Course (siding)
One horizontal row of siding. Panels are described by course height — “double 4” is two 4-inch faces per panel, “double 5” two 5-inch faces.
What it means for you
Mostly installer vocabulary, but it decodes the profile names on a siding quote: the number is the exposed height of each lap. It's a look-and-scale choice, not a quality one.
