Tinted glass
Glass colored in the mass (gray, bronze, green, blue) to cut glare and some solar heat.
What it means for you
A tint trims glare and some heat, but in NC a modern Low-E coating does the solar-heat job better while keeping the view clear — so tint today is mostly a look, not the main heat strategy. Judge heat control by SHGC, not by how dark the glass looks.
Where you'll see it
An aesthetic option; sometimes conflated with Low-E in a pitch.
Don't be fooled
A darker tint is not proof of better heat blocking — the SHGC number is, and clear Low-E often beats a tint.
