Glazing bead
The narrow strip that holds the glass unit in place against the sash. On modern windows it usually snaps in from the interior.
What it means for you
A small but real security-and-repair detail: interior glazing beads mean the glass can't be popped out from outside, and they're how a glass-only replacement goes back together after a failed-seal swap.

During a glass-only (IGU) replacement; noted on some security spec sheets.
