Sash
The moving framed panel that holds the glass — the part that slides, tilts, or cranks. The frame stays put; the sash is what operates.
What it means for you
When a quote says “tilt-in sashes” or “we'll replace the sash,” this is the part they mean. A sash-only (“sash-pack”) fix can restore operation without a whole new window when the frame is sound.
Where you'll see it
On the quote, in balance and hardware repairs, and in “tilt-in cleaning” claims.
