Stile
The vertical side members of a sash (as opposed to the horizontal rails) — the upright edges of the moving panel.
What it means for you
Mostly shop vocabulary, but it helps you read a spec: a “reinforced meeting stile” on a slider, or the interlock between sashes, is a real quality and security detail worth asking about.
