Grille (grid)

The decorative bars that give a window a divided-pane look. Sold three ways: sealed inside the glass, stuck on the surface, or as true separate panes.

What it means for you

A pure aesthetic choice with a cleaning-and-cost angle. Grilles between the glass wipe clean flat; on-surface and true-divided grids look more authentic but cost more and are more to clean.

Where you'll see it

A styling line on the quote (“colonial grids,” “5/8-inch flat grille”).

Don't be fooled

A rep may hint grids “trap dust” or are hard to clean — only the on-surface and true-divided types add cleaning; between-the-glass grids don't.
